Our Story: Roots of Collective Advocacy
The Boricua Community Building Center was established from a shared vision to celebrate and safeguard the vibrant heritage of the Puerto Rican diaspora across New Jersey. Founded in 2020, our organization emerged as a vital response to the need for a dedicated space where local history could be preserved and shared across generations. We began as a grassroots movement, organizing intimate film screenings and artistic workshops that amplify the unheard voices of our community.
Moving forward, we continue to serve as a pivotal cultural anchor, fostering deep connections through education, cinema, and the visual arts. Our mission is built on the belief that storytelling is a powerful tool for community empowerment. By creating platforms where Boricua creativity is nurtured, we ensure that the resilience and beauty of our identity continue to thrive. We are a sanctuary where the spirit of our community finds expression and home.
